Ash Wednesday is March 6 this year and marks the beginning of the season of Lent. We will have a special service that evening at 7 pm. Our Chancel Choir will be singing, we will have scripture reading and the imposition of ashes or oil.
Ashes have been used throughout history as a means to express sorrow over our sins, and for repentance. At our service, participants will received the sign of the cross made with ashes on either their forehead or their hands.
Lent is the 40 day period that leads up to the celebration of Easter (this year on April 21). Traditionally Lent is a time to reflect on our own spiritual life and mirrors the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness.
Everyone is invited to this special service of music and reflection!
