Dave and Jan Perry are providing asylum for two South American young women and helping them with the legal processes they need to remain in the United States. Our Asylum Project is supporting the Perrys as they provide food and lodging and other necessities for Francys and Taylor. The Heart of Longmont partners with Left Hand Church in Longmont to support this project. Here is a recent update provided by Dave Perry:
“The girls are doing great. Left hand church now “meets” Sunday at 5pm. The girls choose to participate in both HOL and LHC worship services. They have not missed any of these services and they pray with Jan and myself multiple times each day.
Pastor David, the girls want you to know how much they appreciate you sending your sermons in Español to them each week! They have made great progress with ESL classes and they volunteer often to say grace at meals; partly in English. They have been such a blessing to both of us!!
The CU Law Clinic is back from the summer break and there are now three law students assigned to their asylum case. One of these students is Jose, who is their good friend from Out Boulder who all 3 of us know well. Violeta, the Law professor is again involved. They had to go to the Peruvian Consulate to have POA documents drawn up for and sent to a relative who will collect copies of papers that were taken away from them by ICE.”
Your gifts for the Asylum Project help to defray expenses for Taylor and Francys. Mark you check “Asylum Offering” or “October Compassion Offering.”
