The Longmont Pride Celebration 2019 took place Saturday with the Heart of Longmont well represented. The weather held until a little after 4pm when the rain and wind set in, and about 5pm it all closed down. Thanks to members of The Justice Seekers for the planning, set-up and staffing our booth: Marty Allison, Mary Blue, Bryn Long, Dave and Jan Perry, Jan Timmons, and Keith and Mary Ann Watson. We were very busy the entire time. Many children, youth and a few adults enjoyed making beaded key rings at our activity table. Good conversations were had with several families and individuals who asked about our church, stating they were looking for a church home. We gave out our church brochures and items such as shopping bags with our church logo on them. In addition, we enjoyed meeting, helping and getting help from other churches present. Together, I think we were able to give out the message that all people are beloved children of God.
One person stopped, looked at our banner and said, “Oh, Heart of Longmont, you are the church that helps feed the homeless. I so appreciate all your congregation does for the community and now this booth. You folks are great. Thank you!” Now who doesn’t enjoy getting compliments? Next year, maybe other members would like to join us as we extend our community presence in the name of Jesus Christ. God has blessed us with AND without the rain.
