The Navajo COVID Relief Project that’s being run out of First UMC of Cortez along with Native Grace Fellowship. The Covid pandemic hit the Navajo nation hard. Pastors Jean Schwien of First UMC Cortez and pastor Norman Mark of Grace Native Fellowship have started a relief project to provide food items, cleaning supplies and other necessities to native families on the reservation in southwest Colorado and southeast Utah. They have also organized hay bale deliveries to ranchers during this time of drought and firewood during the winter months. Now in its 8th year, Native Grace has weathered the COVID storm and is once again meeting weekly for worship. They are planning their continued mission outreach, hoping to combine repairing homes with teaching young people construction skills.
Our May Compassion Offering will go to support the Navajo COVID Relief Project. You may send your check to the Heart of Longmont and mark it for the May Compassion Offering or Navajo COVID. Thank you for your support of this important mission.
