close up photo of HOL stained glass windowJane and Phil Watkins shared with us an update about the Miracle Window restoration. The project is going well! The lower panels, vents, and a few panels up from the vent level have been cleaned. Phil has begun work at the top center, using an extension ladder (pictured below). Three pieces of glass have been removed and replaced and one other has been removed so an exact copy can be made for refitting and replacement. Jane writes:

“The glass is taped together then carefully removed and taken to the shop to be copied on paper. Then a duplicate piece is made from our stockpile of hand blown glass to match the color and hues of the broken pieces.Phil will continue to replace pieces as he goes, saving the Starburst panel for last as it will need to be removed and taken to his shop for repair. The work is tedious and time consuming but very successful in repairing everything as we go.”
